Twin newborn photography session?

Nowadays, smartphones make it possible for anyone to take pretty decent photos. You’ve probably been taking selfies of your adorable baby bump and posting them on social media—and why not? It’s a very cute way to celebrate this special season that you’re in!

So, why not celebrate the birth of your precious babies with a twin newborn photoshoot that’s done by a professional? As a Dallas baby photographer, I (Stephany) am an expert in newborn sessions, and I know how to handle your babies safely. As a fine art newborn photographer, I know how to creatively make your precious little angels look extra adorable and extra fun in photos. And twin newborn photography is twice the fun!

It isn’t every day that a Mama gives birth to twins. Our studio can make their arrival extra special for you and your family with a twin newborn photography session! So, let’s talk about the details that are involved in a twin session.

1. Scheduling the twin newborn photoshoot

The first step in any newborn photography session is having a design consultation with us. Ideally, this consultation should happen a few months before your babies are scheduled to be born—so that we’ll have plenty of time to plan your twin session. This consultation is very important because we’ll be getting to know you, your family, and everything that makes you YOU! This is what will make your twin newborn photography session so special, because every one of our newborn sessions is customized.

The time in which you’ll schedule your twin newborn photoshoot is very important. Ideally, we should take photos of your babies about 6-12 days after they are born. The reason for this is because babies tend to sleep for most of the day when they’re that tiny.

At this age, we’ll have an easier time posing your babies into the props that we have available for them. When they become older (specifically after two weeks old), your twins will start to notice everything around them, and it will be more difficult to keep them calm and asleep during twin newborn photography.

However, if there are any issues that will prevent your twin newborn photography session from happening 6-12 after birth (such as time in the NICU, etc.), no problem! We’ll be more than happy to work with you and make sure that your twin newborn photoshoot is the best that it can be.

2. Keeping safety in mind

Your babies are very precious, so rest assured that we’ll do everything we can to keep your babies safe and protected during twin newborn photography. In fact, safety is our top priority during any newborn photography session.

When it’s time for your twin session, your babies will be supported at all times by professionals. We’ll clean all blankets, props, and any other equipment that will be used during your newborn session, and we’ll make sure that everything is free of any hazards (glass, splinters, etc.).

In fact, I (Stephany) take safety so seriously that I’ve taken a great deal of newborn safety classes. I’m also certified by the Accredited Professional Newborn Photographers International (APNPI) in newborn safety. If you’d like more information about APNPI, visit their website here.

3. Experiencing the twin photography session

During your twin newborn photoshoot, we’ll take care of everything for you—blankets, diapers, pacifiers, everything! That’s one of the benefits of hiring a fine art newborn photographer for professional photos! All you need to bring to your newborn photography session is milk. (If your babies need anything else besides that, of course you can bring that as well.) We’ll take care of everything else!

Keep in mind that a newborn session typically takes about three or four hours to complete, and twin newborn photography could possibly take even longer. This all depends on whether or not your babies will need to take any breaks to be fed or calmed back to sleep. But no worries—we’re flexible! We’re committed to giving you and your precious babies the best twin newborn photoshoot that we can.

Also keep in mind that we’ll be capturing your babies’ adorableness using some twin newborn photography magic. We’ll be taking pictures of your twins at our studio, but later we’ll make some image composites in Photoshop. We do this so that we can achieve the desired artistic effect as safely as possible.

Have you ever seen photos of a newborn baby inside a potato sack or sitting on a shelf? Those actually aren’t safe poses in which to position babies in real life. What actually happens is that a spotter (either a professional from our studio or a parent) will hold a baby’s head while we take the pictures. Then we’ll Photoshop the spotter’s arm and hand out of the image and Photoshop the desired background in. To read more information about this process, check out this article!

In addition to protecting your babies’ safety, this photographic technique also allows us to be as creative as possible with costumes, props, and all kinds of setups during a twin newborn photoshoot. The possibilities with these accessories are pretty much endless!

During a twin newborn photography session, we like to take pictures of each individual baby as well as pictures of both babies together. Your twins will come together as a set, but of course you’ll find that they will each have their own unique personalities as time goes by. We can dress them or place them in matching clothes, costumes, or setups, or we can also arrange them in different colors or styles. Twin newborn photography is a fun process for us, and we’ll make sure to photograph your babies as adorably as possible!

4. Opting for our pampering services

And we haven’t even mentioned yet how YOU can play a special part in your twin newborn photography session! After carrying twins, we know that you could use some well-earned time to yourself with a pampering package that we offer with all of our newborn photography sessions. This would be a special treat for you to enjoy while we’re working our twin newborn photography magic!

If you select this optional package, you’ll be pampered for 90 minutes by a hair and makeup artist at our studio. We’ll also fit you into something beautiful from our extensive collection of gowns and take gorgeous photos of you as well!

Can’t you just picture yourself looking extra beautiful with your babies in their twin session? They will be positioned or wrapped in adorable props and/or wardrobe, and you will be extra gorgeous in a dress from our collection of gowns. 5. Considering a sibling newborn session

Do your twins have older siblings? They can join in the twin newborn photography fun, too! We can put together a sibling newborn session that will make all of your children look fabulous.

Since newborn photography sessions can be long, it can be difficult for young children to sit through them. So, we recommend that you wait until toward the end of your twin newborn photoshoot to bring your twins’ older siblings to the studio.

Then when it’s time for the sibling newborn session, we’ll pose all of your children into some cute sibling images for everyone in your family to enjoy for years to come! All of your kids will look adorable in matching outfits or costumes, or maybe just a simple matching or complementary color scheme. We’ll use whichever wardrobe or setup that your family will look best in. We may also be able to come up with a cute theme that is specific to your sibling newborn session!
